What are you willing to die for?
Courage in the face of death
Happy Monday all! I hope you had a great weekend. It was a busy one for us between three friend’s kids’ birthday parties and Disney on Ice. What a dad weekend…
What are you willing to die for?
Three Jewish men faced death for their beliefs. It occurred in the 6th century BC. The Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar II built a golden statue and commanded everyone to bow down to it. To worship at the price of any other belief or religion.
These three men refused and rebelled against the king, which they knew would lead to the terrible death of being burned alive. They chose to stand firm in their convictions amidst thousands of others bowing down.
What kind of courage is this? Where is the courage of all the others who did bow down?
Conviction came over me as I read that story this week. There are beliefs that we all hold that are matters of great importance. The significance of faith, hope, and religion cannot be undersold.
Yet, I rarely speak up about my beliefs except when asked. My mind tells myself I believe, but perhaps my heart isn’t fully convinced. Or perhaps I’m too distracted or apathetic to consider the weight.
If you are distracted from your purpose, your impact is depleted. The easiest war to win against you is not to change your beliefs, but keep you from acting on them.
Thank you for reading! Please reply and let me know your thoughts. Have a great day!
