The Greatest Decision Anyone Can Make

Fighting for the soul

My daughter made a life changing decision,
And it’s the best decision anyone can ever make.

Thirty minutes after we put her to bed,
We heard her sobbing.

She was reading the book “God’s Very Good Idea”
And was shaken by the line:
“Our sin means we can’t be friends with [God], or enjoy living with him.”

We’ve had many conversations about the Gospel,
But never one like this.

It clicked.

She understood:
That she is sinful
The consequences of her sin
The hope we have through Christ to be made righteous

After talking for an hour,
She prayed to accept Christ into her heart.

As a parent, there is no joy like what we experienced that night.

Dads – Keep fighting for your child’s soul.

You can’t save them, but you can lead them to the One who can.

The spiritual health of our family is the most important aspect of our leadership.

If you have kids, be cautious in following life advice from people who do not. It’s dangerous to follow their advice because life changes so dramatically when you have kids. We are called to keep our kids as a higher priority than work.

What habits are you developing for your kids? Our routines generally form habits for our kids. For example, we let our oldest kid read a book to us before bed. We were reluctant to start that because of the extra time, but it’s forming a habit of reading in her life that we feel is important.

A question for you to consider…

What would get your child in more trouble. Disobeying a clear directive or accidentally breaking a TV?

Your response points to how intentional or emotional you are parenting your children.

Our response to disobedience should be decisive and direct. Accidents don’t deserve the same response.

I hope you have a great week!!

God Bless,
Matt Virgin
