Starve Your Vices
A small bite carries them a long way.

Starve your vices. A small bite carries them a long way.
I’m more and more convinced that INDIFFERENCE is one of the largest barriers keeping us from growth.
We allow sin to live in our life. We see the impact and feel the shame, but don’t muster up any gusto to kill it.
Maybe we do for a day or two, But it creeps back in slowly.
When I do these things consistently, I see the impact on my motivation to kill sin:
I talk about them with other brothers
I am disciplined in reading the Word
I am disciplined in prayer, seeking wisdom and support.
It takes doing what I don’t feel like doing.
But consistent action in the positive is the only way to kill the negative.
Starve your vices. A small bite carries them a long way.
Meet your kids where they are.
I was getting frustrated at my son. The weather was finally nice, and I wanted to toss the football with him. He wanted no part.
Instead, he wanted to play with his G.I. Joe.
Despite my preference, I gave in. Ended up making a makeshift zipline. It was a great time.
There's been many times I've tried to force our time together to look a certain way. Sometimes that's needed, But we can't force our kids to be a certain way. To play a certain sport. To be interested in what we were at their age.
They need to be them, and we should love them for who they are.
I hope you have a great week!!
God Bless,
Matt Virgin
