Give Them Your Best
You can't give them the most, so give them the best
If you can’t give your family your most, give them your best.
Most people go to work each morning and don’t come home for at least 8 hours. They are gone for most of their waking hours. That is my story and possibly yours.
The people I work with get the most of me during the week. When I get home, it is easy to let the stress out on my kids or my wife. When I do that, my family gets the least and worst of me. I will say my priority is my family but there are days where I don’t live that out.
How long is your commute? That is built in time to reset. You may be tired or you may be stressed, but that is time to get refreshed and ready for your other job. The most important job.
There are days that are more challenging than others, but being exhausted to the point of not engaging with your family should be rare.
The feeling of deserving a meal, a recliner, a remote, and a beer is pure selfishness and is not what we are called to do. We are called to pour ourselves out in service and love even when we’re tired. We are called to love others more than ourselves. We are called to continue working when we are done at work.
Christ is able to give us strength in moments of weakness. Because of Him, we are able to keep going and make the next right decision even when we’re tired and stressed.
If you can’t give your family your most, give them your best.
